Frequently Asked Questions
How will the Grand Green change?
The Grand Green will grow in height, and the layout orientation will shift. Paved paths and terrace seating will also be available. The stage has been rotated about 90 degrees, so future performers will still enjoy the beautiful sunsets at Freeman Arts without facing direct sunlight.
Why did the plan change for covered seating?
This change was made as the project evolved to balance the project cost and timing to complete Freeman Arts Pavilion. We remain committed to exploring practical and affordable ways to add shade and comfort for our audiences throughout the venue in the future.
Will there be restrooms and concessions near the Grand Green?
The restroom trailers will be located near seating areas as well as food and beverage outlets. These temporary amenities will evolve into permanent structures in future phases of the project. The Lower Lawn will feature The Canteen, offering its full menu, and a redesigned Food Truck Court is planned for 2026. The air-conditioned restrooms remain available on the Lower Lawn as well.
Will there be new or upgraded accessible seating and amenities?
Yes. The slope of the areas to access the Grand Green will be improved for wheelchair accessibility. There will be accessible seating close to pathways throughout the seating area, more paved paths, an assistive listening system and other future enhanced amenities throughout the venue to come. As in the past, ADA seating is available for all ticket types based on availability.
How will seating work?
Freeman Arts Pavilion will continue to offer a mix of Reserved and General Admission seating. Guests can choose from several seating types: Reserved Seating or Standing Room Only tickets on the Floor near the stage, Reserved (bowl) seating, Box seating with enhanced amenities, Terrace seating and Lawn seating.
Will ticket prices increase because of the new facilities?
The construction project is funded through a dedicated capital campaign. Ticket prices are set based on industry standards, artist fees and market demand. We remain committed to keeping performances accessible while presenting top-quality artists, including a variety of free performances throughout the summer season.
How will parking be impacted with a larger capacity?
Freeman Arts Pavilion has been approved for 4,000 seats, which also includes the overall parking plan for the venue. In 2022, we introduced Off-Site Parking, which is located about 1.5 miles from the venue with a convenient shuttle service to and from the venue. We also offer pay-per-seat transportation by the Jolly Trolley for select performances from Lewes, Rehoboth, Dewey and Bethany beaches. In 2024, we added additional areas for bike parking and golf cart parking. Parking on-site remains free but limited, so we encourage carpooling, ride-sharing, walking, or biking whenever possible.
