Terrance Simien’s Creole4kidz
Terrance Simien’s Creole4kidz
Terrance Simien’s Creole4kidz and the History of Zydeco.
When it comes to Creole culture and Zydeco music, two-time Grammy winner Terrance Simien and his band, The Zydeco Experience, represent the past, present and future of American roots music. This six-piece, intergenerational and multicultural group is made up of highly skilled performers who bring an unforgettable energy to the stage. Students will explore zydeco’s blend of roots, reggae, gospel, funk and New Orleans jazz through storytelling, live music and audience interaction. With over 40 years of experience, Simien leads students on a vibrant journey through Creole history, culture and sound. Ahead of the assembly, students can create their very own frottoir, or Zydeco rubboard.
