Join us throughout 2026 for a brand-new film series celebrating the power of art on screen and in our community. Over the course of the year, we’ll present six inspiring films across a variety of artistic genres. Each screening offers the chance not only to enjoy a great film, but to engage in meaningful conversation with local voices who bring each story to life.
Imagine a world where the great movie musicals are all but lost to modern audiences; where films like “Singin’ in the Rain” and “An American in Paris” and “Meet Me in St. Louis” exist primarily in the realm of diminishing memory. That was the world of 1974, before home video, before the explosion of cable, before the spread of cinema art houses beyond big cities and college campuses. That was also the year MGM dug into its vaults and assembled this astonishing retrospective of the studio’s greatest musical hits, hosted by the likes of Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, Frank Sinatra and Elizabeth Taylor.
Following the film, audiences are invited to stay for a moderated conversation with acclaimed Saturday Evening Post film critic Bill Newcott, creator of AARP’s Movies for Grownups, and a guest community expert connected to the film’s theme. These post-screening discussions highlight the artistic discipline at the heart of each story and foster a deeper understanding of the creative processes that shape them.
Come for the film. Stay for the conversation. Experience the arts in a whole new way!
