Join us throughout 2026 for a brand-new film series celebrating the power of art on screen and in our community. Over the course of the year, we’ll present six inspiring films across a variety of artistic genres. Each screening offers the chance not only to enjoy a great film but to engage in meaningful conversation with local voices who bring each story to life.

From the moment Walt Disney’s landmark concert film, "Fantasia," opened in 1940, audiences were simultaneously thrilled and perplexed. No one had ever seen — nor heard — anything quite like it: A fully animated program with episodes ranging from slapstick comedy to dinosaur death matches to flat-out abstract design — all accompanied by classical music, recorded with unprecedented clarity and conducted by Leopold Stokowski, a musical rock star decades before the term was coined.

Saturday Evening Post film critic Bill Newcott, creator of AARP’s Movies for Grownups, will sit down with James Allen Anderson, co-founder and music director of the Southern Delaware Orchestra, to discuss Disney’s revolutionary marriage of music and animation, plus the unique and clever (and sometimes controversial) ways Stokowski married music of the masters to Mickey Mouse.

Come for the film. Stay for the conversation. Experience the arts in a whole new way!
